30 Minus 2 Days of Writing (2013)
Day 2: “Hold On”
We all reside within the universal link, the brotherhood of necessity, this life with its remarkable complexity and manufactured meanings. We wade through waves of the mundanely surreal, through so many declarations of certitude marked with the confidence of meaning found in misplaced authority. All we seek in this life is direction, to understand the might of ambiguity, the strength of suggestion, the grand certitude of maybe. Maybe one day we will fully understand. I have faith in the promise of maybe.
I have faith in humanity, human discovery, the interaction of knowledge and necessity. If only there were enough time to witness those awakenings, the salutations to imagination, the gentle downpour of inevitable understanding. Who among us will remain standing when the time comes for us to awaken and dream, to reach for the newly tangible, those formerly unattainable things? I have faith in the inevitability of maybe. All we have to do is hold on.

A painful exercise in forced inspiration brought to you by
“We Work for Cheese“
KZ, I don’t think I’ve ever seen this optimistic, hopeful side to you before. Now, stop it. It’s disturbing.
I’m a sap when I want to be, and there’s nothing you can do about it, Nicky!
Whoa. I think I AM going to have go back and do my blog homework. I obviously wasn’t thinking about “Hold On” deeply enough. This is deep, but in a good way. Thanks for making me think, even if it is as my wife calls it “O dark thirty.”
The beauty of language is its versatility of meaning. “Hold On” can mean just about a hundred different things. It’s really fun to see how all of us are grappling with the writing prompts in our own individual ways. Anyhow, thank you for your kind words.
KZ, first of all, this is beautifully written. Such an intelligent piece. I share your views and, like Charlie Brown, continue to believe that one day Lucy will keep her word and not pull away the football. Mostly I believe in the power of the human spirit. So lovely to connect with you.
You’re too kind. Thank you so much! It’s nice to connect with other like-minded individuals. I guess this blogging competition has its positive points.
